Go Canucks Go!

If I have to call out one thing I became addicted to since we moved to Vancouver, it's gotta be Hockey. I've never been much of a sportsfan, but there is something about hockey which attracts me (and of course working on the best NHL game requires one to keep up to date and go out to research :) ). The Vancouver Canucks are doing great in the playoffs at this moment (knock on wood), they are currently 2-1 ahead in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Chicago Blackhawks. Go Canucks Go! On to the Stanley Cup :) Here are various pictures of hockey matches I've been to in the last...

And some more :)

We had a bit of a lazy Sunday, which created some time for me to do some photo filtering/processing. We had an early start due to a dog incident... (just spent 100$ on new blinds so we wouldn't be woken up by the light anymore...), so we headed out for a 10K hike around Buntzen Lake, which is about 2-3km from our home and afterward we went for lunch at our favorite Sushi Place, where we treated ourselves to Spicy Tuna Sashimi, Spicy salmon sashimi, an "awesome roll" (it was actually very good, but that's just the name) and Ebi Gyoza, price: 28$(+-18EUR) (including drinks). Can't beat that price...

Easter Weekend at Tofino and Ucluelet

It has been ages since we wrote something on the blog... Sorry about this! We spend our Easter Weekend on Vancouver Island. We left early on Friday morning to catch the ferry to Nanaimo. It took us some preparations to get everything ready especially with the dog, but we've made it in time! It was a three hour drive northwest across Vancouver Island, from Nanaimo to Tofino along Highway 4. River along Pacific Rim Hwy (Hwy 4) to Tofino It is a popular tourist destination. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature....

My top 10 favorite photos of 2008

Maybe a more appropriate blog topic would be: "10 photos I made in 2008 of which I'm most happy and for which I'm looking for an excuse to post them again..." but that would be too long, so let's go for the Top 10 one :) 10. So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye..

It's generally known that saying goodbye is not a pleasant thing. So today was a pretty emotional day. I had to say goodbye to my parents after we spend two weeks together. Of course everybody was a little sad, but we are already looking forward to seeing them again this summer! I want to thank my mom and dad for everything they've done for us this holiday, and of course also Kris his parents for helping my parents getting here and for the Christmas gifts!!! Ow, and I can't forget my brother, Marijke and Kris his sister, thanks guys, really!! But we're not going to stay emotional during...

New Year, Grouse and a lot more

Sorry for the lack of posts lately but we have been busy (as everyone around this period I think). I hope everybody enjoyed their New Year's eve. We sure did! We've had dinner in the Salmon House. It's a really nice restaurant. I think it's even one of the best and nicest decorated restaurants I've ever seen. It's based in West Vancouver and the view from the dinning room is stunning: you can see Vancouver and Stanley Park. And of course, the most important part, the food was GREAT! I also promised you some pictures of the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Normally you visit the bridge during...

Snowshoeing on Cypress and Victoria

Two days ago we went snowshoeing on Cypress Mountain. Cypress is one of the three "local" mountains of Vancouver. Snowshoeing is something that none of us had done before, but since my parents don't ski or snowboard, we thought it would be nice to do something in the snow and let them participate:). We began with an interpretive tour, just to get us started. The trail was amazing. We made a stop at the Hollyburn Lodge for a burger and some hot drinks. The left picture below shows the start of the trail. In the first picture: Me, myself and I (actually enjoying the exercise:)) (normally...

Long story short… or not?

Like I've told you before, my parents made it for Christmas. They were stuck in Toronto for 24 hours, but luckily they were able to catch the first flight, on Tuesday morning, to Vancouver. As you can expect, they were very tired, but they had to keep going until the evening because otherwise they would give in to their jet lag. I decided to take them out to visit some furniture shops because if we wanted to enjoy our Christmas dinner, we needed some dinning chairs. On the 24th we prepared our Christmas dinner and of course ate it. After dinner we went for an evening/Christmas Eve walk. Kris...
