Salmon Run in Port Coquitlam

"It's Fall, the leafs have fallen, and so has the government" said a Belgian Prime Minister by the name of Mark Eyskens years ago when his government failed. In Vancouver fall means heavy rainfall which causes the creeks to swell, allowing Salmon passage to higher elevations where they lay their eggs and die. You could say it's the period when the Salmon fall. It's always a sad sight, but that's the reality of nature. This was the third time we headed out to check the status of the salmon run with the first time a week ago only seeing two salmon, the second time 2 days ago around 20 and today...

Laity Pumpkin Patch

Ever since we arrived in Canada we've wanted to visit a pumpkin patch. We've never had a chance to do so because usually we're out of town during this time of year. Finally after six years we've managed to achieve our goal! We visited the Laity Pumpkin Patch in Maple Ridge and were really impressed! They have a variety of different attractions for your family to enjoy: You can get "lost" in the Corn Maze, there are different farm animals including emus, donkeys, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, .... There are interactive wooden animal displays, excellent for some lovely photo ops. Kids...

Some sunset pictures from a "beach" (read: Jagged Volcanic Rock dropping into ocean, aka: don't wear flip-flops..) behind a gated private mansion complex West of Kona. Remember: On Hawaii, all beaches are public, so there is always a way to get to the beach.
