Haney to Harrison Relay Race
This weekend our friends participated in the Haney to Harrison Relay.
The 29th annual H2H route followed the mighty Fraser River along country roads, finishing at Harrison Lake. It is a very popular 100km 8-person Relay and there are even people that do a 100km Ultra (one person running 100 km in one day). The legs of the race ranged from 8km to 15km (up and downhill) .
The money our group (Joe’s Bros and Hos) raised from sponsors was donated to the Moir Foundation.
We had to get up really early on Saturday because our volunteer shift (as race marshals) started at 6:15 am. After our shift, we caught up with the group. At that time they were in the 3rd leg of the race.
Even though Kris and I weren’t racing, we had an amazing time! The atmosphere during the race was incredible. Everyone was supporting each other and it’s so inspiring to people who’ve just started running.

At 3:30 pm all Leg 8 runners still waiting at Exchange 7 had to start whether or not the Leg 7 runner had arrived. If the Leg 7 runner has not arrived yet, the Leg 8 runner would have received a second chip for timing. When the group started the race they didn’t really think they would be able to make it back in time for the exchange. It was 3:25pm and we still weren’t sure where Paul (our Leg 7 runner) was. We were pretty nervous because we knew that there was still a small chance of making the exchange in time. All of a sudden we saw Paul. With 2.5 minutes to spare, the exchange of the chip was done at 3:27:30. The team made it!!

The real team, 8 great runners, Mike the driver, supporter and photographer, Kris and Ine volunteer marshalls and supporters and Grizzly and Harvey the mascots!! Go Joe’s Bros and Hos!!! (photo credits go to Jill)
I cannot believe that there’s actually people who run the 100 km in one day.

We both had such an amazing time and were so happy to part of this! Thanks to everyone who invited us to come!

Misschien zou het genot nog groter zijn als jullie volgende keer zelf zouden kunnen meelopen!! Dus verder trainen.
