Tango Anyone?

Well, if you read this post, you've noticed that I "switched hosts". By that I mean, I finally got my own host after spending about 13 years on the web. I decided to get rid of the free Wordpress.com account before I grew to dependent on the free service since every link/search engine points to that site. Planckendael

Last weekend we went to Planckendael, which is a zoo near Mechelen, Belgium. I must admit that I was disappointed by the quality of the park. The park itself is bigger than the Antwerp Zoo, but seems to have less animals and in general a lot less interesting animals. Also consumption prices were way too high and we felt ripped off when leaving the park. The best part of the park in my opinion were the otters where I was able to snap this picture.

The Market of Bruges

Yesterday evening, not feeling like spending the evening sitting in front of the television, we decided on a quick evening visit to Bruges, which is a 60 kilometers (+-38 miles) drive. Bruges is probably one of the most famous cities of Belgium due to its historic center and medieval architecture and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This picture shows the market of Bruges with the statue of Jan Breydel and Pieter de Coninck, two leaders of the Battle of the Golden Spurs which took place on the 11th of July 1302, and the Provincial court in the background.

HeksEnVuur Theater

Another picture of HeksenEnVuur 2007 in Laarne. This time a picture of the theater show where the devil and his disciples are holding a diabolical ceremony. The show was set right next to the Castle of Laarne.

Where I come from

I've been listening a bit too much to country music at work lately, especially "Where I come from" - Alan Jackson, which inspired me to take a picture of the building I live in. After several unsuccessful tries (cars passing by) I finally managed to get 3 exposures to combine to HDR. The only mistake I made was to, without my knowing, include part of myself and my tripod in the picture... The symbol you see on the building is a Native American symbol called "Kokopelli", which has many different and strange meanings... I first encountered this symbol in Moab, Utah where I bought a Kokopelli...
